Single Parents ~ ~ ~ ~

Dalton has 4 guys here hunting. I am not going to complain because they are paying for this hunt. He and three other guys are going to guide them, cook for them, and entertain them for the next few days. With no woman involved, I wonder how that will all work out.
Each time that Dalton is not here, I realize what a tough job single parents have. I don’t know how they EVER get anything accomplished! This was my morning today ~
4:30 ~ Dalton wakes up bc he hears the pool pump and it has stopped. Goes outside to check. Comes in…in bathroom looking for Tylenol, he has a headache.
4:55 ~ I hear Rhett and Jeff starting to come downstairs to go hunting..nudge DDD…he gets up and leaves.
5:15 ~ Can’t go back to sleep but am too tired to get up.
5:58~ Finally back asleep and sleeping good when…
6:00 ~ alarm goes off, hit snooze
6:03 ~ I hear little feet and think, “Are you KIDDING me?” The child NEVER sleeps late, but my days just go better when I can wake up on my own…THEN be bombarded with 500 questions.
6:04 ~ Let MD get in our bed. Dare her to talk.
6:15 ~ Roll out of bed, to the shower I go
6:17 ~ Hear, “I’m DOOONNNEE!” Lovely.
6:18 ~ Get out of the shower. Wipe a hinney.
6:20 ~ Back in the shower
6:45 ~ I am dressed and it is a MIRACLE
6:46 ~ Wake JDD up “It’s too dark…I “sweepy” Mama!” ~ ahhhh…a boy after my own heart!
6:50 ~ Pick JD up and literally stand him in front of the toilet and pull down his underwear so he can tee tee. He is crying about his “wegs being too shaky”
6:55~ Give JD his clothes, tell him to dress himself…realize MD is no where to be found
6:58 ~ realize I did not start the washing machine..hit start…look for MD
7:00 ~ Find MD helping herself to some lipstick so she can look “extra fancy” today at school…straight to the sink we go!
7:05 ~ Help MD dress, do her hair…where is Jackson? Get MD done and send her downstairs.
7:10 ~ Find JDD in toy room playing…still naked. Dress him.
7:15 ~ Turn off all lights, go downstairs.
7:16 ~ Realize MD is LAYING on her cute hair I just fixed!!! Back upstairs to re-do hair!!!
7:20~ Heading out the door…get backpacks, lunch boxes, JD’s cup, show and tell, coffee, cell phone, lesson plans….
7:30 ~ Everyone is loaded and we are on the way…late…but on the way!
7:31 ~ Referee a fight over what movie should be viewed on the FOUR minute ride to the sitters! Are you kidding me?? We looked at trees and counted cars!
7:33 ~ I decide we are going to watch Dora.
7:35 ~ I am singing along to “Material Girl”
7:36 ~ Turn off my Madonna music and explain why sisters and brothers cannot marry each other.
7:40 ~ Drop JD off.
7:45 ~ Back in the car…realize we are going to be REALLY late!
7:50 ~ Attempt to explain to MD why even if she prays really, really hard that she still may not get a kitten, dog, baby sister, a trip to Disney, etc.
8:05 ~ Drop MD off
8:15 ~ I am at work! Already exhausted!! How DO single parents do this ALL the time?

Dalton may not do every single thing that I would like for him to do, but ANY help is better than NO help at all! He should be home tonight around 10:00. I am taking my ninth grade science class to physical science day at Six Flags tomorrow! Sallie is coming to spend the night and keep the children tomorrow. I am looking forward to a fun day! J

If you are a single parent ~ My hat is off to you!!!

That morning sounds like ours somewhat! I am not a single mom but husband does not get up well and I do it all in the morning. All he may do is help parker along by saying.."Parker!" why do little boys jump when they hear daddy! Oh well..I am use to it!

I am with you there - Brian hasn't had the hunting bug much lately, but when he does go and spend the night it seems like Blair consumes every second of my time.
