Sorry it has been so long since my last post..our internet has been down AGAIN! Not that many people read...but Nana appreciates my posts! :) Thanks Mama!!!
We had a nice weekend! Saturday we FINALLY got the chemicals right in the pool ~ and so of course we had to swim! The water was pretty chilly at first, but it was really comfortable once you got in. Mary Dalton did super! She was swimming all over the place! Jackson sat on the steps and cried. Well, I cannot handle all that mess. He was crying/gagging/screaming, “I not swimming today. I swim with yall later! I will go under!” (I think he was remembering his near death experience last September when Yoohoo had to jump in and “save him.”) I put his floaties on looked him in the eye and said, “Mommy loves you more than anything in the whole wide world. I would never let anything happen to you. You ARE going to swim TODAY. I will hold you for a minute.”
I know the neighbors hate us. We are sooooo loud. We are always yelling out the door, kids fighting, me refereeing from the door, etc. Anyway, the neighbor was in the backyard and from where he was standing he could see and of course HEAR us! I took him off the steps and you would have thought that I was killing him. He was shaking with fear..literally. I started jumping with him and he hushed. 10 minutes later he was swimming all over the pool…thank heavens! I think that all children should learn to swim at an early age, and he is going to learn whether he likes it or not! I hate to break it to him, but swimming lessons will be in about 3-4 weeks and he will take for 1 week, then a follow lesson 1-2 times weekly until he can swim. He doesn’t have to like it, but he will know how! I swear it gets crazier around here by the minute! I just heard screams of death coming from upstairs, and instead of asking WHAT? WHO? WHY? I just went in armed with my trusty spoon and now both kids are in their rooms for a 10 mintue "Break" from each other....PEACE and QUIET! ahhhhh...
The other morning I was talking to my mom about something one of the kids did and said, “You know, nothing is really sacred anymore around your house anymore.” I mean really, simple things that the average Joe would take for granted are rare and glorious occasions at the Dowdy household.
Examples:
1.You cannot have an entire conversation without being interrupted or correcting a child. My children will say not say a word for 20 minutes, but as soon as Dalton and I start to talk or I get on the phone…they decide they have something to say!
2.You cannot eat a whole meal without asking someone to chew with their mouth closed, someone spilling their milk, or someone throwing up their “tree” (this is what JD said this week when he upchucked his pasta into his plate…”I bombit up dat tree. It’s gross.”). The "tree" was broccoli!
3.Bathroom trips are done with with an entourage …and it doesn’t matter WHAT you are doing in there, you will have little eyes watching you and commenting the entire time you are trying to take care of things…tee teeing, pooping, taking care of your girl stuff…yep. Kids are right there by the toilet cheering me on! The best was when Jackson was about 18 months old and was trying to use a feminine product! Oh yeah…and MDD before she was even 2 would pack her a purse and ALWAYS go get a tampon for her bag…she actually still tries to do that!
4. Showers are only pleasant if you take them when the children are not around (which is never) or if you take it before they get up. Otherwise, you have little eyes pressing on the glass asking for a snack or you hear “I’m done” while showering which will REALLY mess your shower up! If you don’t have little eyes watching you or kiddos on the toilet, they are probably destroying your clean house ~ ~ Yeah…just let ‘em watch!
5. TV ~ I used to watch The Today Show every a.m. Now, we watch My Friends Tigger and Pooh or Sid the Science the Kid…or better yet…Max & Ruby ~ 2 rabbits who are siblings and one does not talk…just shakes his head. And even if I did allow them their own TV ~ they’d stay wherever I am.
6. Bath Time…I love a bath at night. Shower in the a.m., bathe at night…it just relaxes me! If I bathe while the kids are awake, and I do not ask them to bathe with me, they stand there and BEG to put their feet in. This is gross to me. Half the time, they do not have shoes on and Jackson always has toe cheese of every flavor, but what do I do??? Let them put their feet in!
7. Time alone with Dalton ~ I won’t go into details, but let’s just say an ear is ALWAYS listening to the monitor and I SWEAR they have a built in radar that goes off ! And don’t think I am making this stuff up…if you have children…you KNOW what I mean!
As crazy as our house can be, I would have it NO other way! We are so blessed to have MD & Jack and they are growing up sooo fast! I know before I know it, I will be wishing they were still doing these sweet little things! OK ~ all except maybe 7& 3! J They are really two of the funniest children I know and they make our family so happy and complete!
Enough ramblings for today!!!!!

I agree - I get excited about your new posts too! :) It always gives me a good laugh and also gives me a glimpse of what my near future will be like with Abby!!
I'm already starting to experience some of these, but certainly enjoyed reading!
