You Were a Quick One, July

I don’t even know why I’m shocked because July always flies by! It’s been a busy month but we have still enjoyed lots of family time!

When COVID-19 first started we miss eating out so much. We quickly realized that the things that we really loved aren’t that important and that cooking and eating at home as a family it’s just as fun as going out. We’ve had some fun times in the kitchen the last five months!

I took Jackson school shopping this past weekend. We were literally gone two hours and that included a lunch stop and stop for a snowcone. We also had a 30 minute drive each way. Simple man. He absolutely hates shopping, but he went...because I begged him to!

His sister on the other hand love shopping and would go every day all day if she could.  She’s doing really good with her driving! She drove us to Augusta to do her shopping and we even got in a really bad rainstorm. I can’t believe she’ll be driving on her own in a few weeks!

I don’t even know how to accurately describe how much I have loved having so much extra time with Dalton. Next week is definitely going to be hard! The past five months we have been able to do so much more together! We eat lunch together almost every day and then we cook every night. I’m not looking forward to being overscheduled and I’m trying really hard to never get that way again. A simple slow life works way better for the two of us!

We were about to get in bed last week and Mary Dalton came in declaring that she was hungry. Big D to the rescue! He cooked her a steak at 10:30.
He is definitely set the standard high for whatever man she ends up with.

Jackson’s last day of work was this week! I have been so proud of him and how hard he is working this summer. He never complained one time and worked about 35 hours each week. His supervisor and two of his sweet little old lady friends got him a cake, a balloon and the sweetest card! This has been such a good first job for Jackson! He is always valued money but he really understands and appreciates the value of a dollar now.

The varsity cheerleaders hosted junior Jag camp this week. This was supposed to be in May but was rescheduled due to Covid.

Mary Dalton had the k4 girls. They were so stinking cute! She had a blast with them!

We met Dalton for lunch today… And Jackson was with us but he was not having his picture made. The joys of teenage boys.

I go back to work full-time on Monday and I have students coming on Thursday. I don’t even know what to say about this summer. It’s definitely been the longest break I’ve  ever had from work. I really didn’t know that we were so busy and overscheduled until I saw what it was like to be home. I hate that COVID-19 happened but the time I’ve had with my family is something that I will always cherish. I’m excited to get back into somewhat of a routine but I’m going to miss my leisurely mornings and all of my extra time with Dalton for sure! I can’t believe that my next post will more than likely be back to school pictures! Both kids are starting high school next week! Time is really flying by!
