I try not to be difficult or complain a lot...even though Dalton may disagree;-)....but I got a not today about grandparents day on FRIDAY!!! HELLO!!! Grandparents are supposed to come to school to show the kids' family trees with them, have snack, and then join us for the prayer memorial for 9/11. Dalton's parents are out of town and mine are 10 hours away. Her teacher wrote that it was "no big deal if grands can't come since it is such short notice." That is a HUGE deal to a child. As much trouble as MDD has had with school, then to show up with no grandparent ~ trust me ~ this was be a HUGE set back in her progress! Each child has to make a family tree and the grandparents are supposed to help the child show their tree. I am sorry, but I cannot stand to think of my baby girl being one of the few who have no one there! What makes me so mad is that all of this could have been AVOIDED completely had I been given notice!
Can you tell I wee bit ticked??? I'm telling yall, I am nice, calm and level headed until you 1) mess with my children or 2) mess with my husband ~ and then the BEAST comes out!
I have called a back up, Gigi, but Sallie is having oral surgery on Friday...again...had we been given notice, they might could have even worked something out. Secondly, a LOT of those grandparents work...I am sure their employers would appreciate a notice, too. It just makes me sad, because I have racked my brain and truly there is no one to go for her. I guess I could pay Lucille (our old nanny) to go with her, but if I am going to pay her ~ I am letting them both stay home and sleep in. I also thought about letting her go in after 10 when all the festivities will be over. I could go down there, but have 2 classes I need to teach during that time....I am telling you...we are out of options/ideas. My friend, Cathy (the guidance counsleor) said that she would go down to stand in for those without a grandparent, but even still it is not the same...
OK ~ maybe I will calm down since I got that off my chest...I doubt it....but we'll see....
A VERY unhappy mommy ~

**I tell my kids at school "Lack of planning on your part, does not mean an emergency on mine" ~ hmmmm.....same situation!!!

Amber - how about MDD calling her GP's during the GP time in class and putting them on speaker phone so they could say hello to the class. You'd have to let both sets of GP's and the teacher know ahead of time, of course. It's not the same as being there in person but it would still be a live interaction. Just a thought. Hope it all goes well for you and MDD! Debbie(Martin:-))
that is a great idea! Thansk Debbie!!! :)
