Southern & Double ~ My favorite names! :)

I love reading Kelly's Korner and every week she has "Show us your life" ~ I never participate, but love reading! Today, she is doing how you named your children! Since I blog instead of scrapbooking, I thought this would be fun for MD & JD to read one day!

Mary Dalton ~ When I was pregnant with MD, I wanted a girl sooooooo sooooooooooo sooooooooooo bad (get the idea?)! ;) I was just that excited when I found she was a girl! I really don't know how we decided on Mary Dalton for her name, but it just worked! I love double names, and Mary is a family name on both sides, as well as a good old southern name (which I LOVE). Dalton is my husband's name and he is named after his maternal grandfather. I also like Molly Ann a LOT, but once we thought of Mary Dalton....that was a done deal! We call her the whole name, Mary D and MD.

Jackson David ~ I have always loved the name Jackson!! I think it stems from watching Steel Magnolias 500 times! ;) Dalton and I met in Jackson and it is a family name, too. David is Dalton's middle name and his daddy's middle name....so it HAD to be our little boy's name, too! We call him Jackson, but also Jax. His initals are the same as Dalton's daddy.

NOW ~ I just told Dalton that I should go into business naming people's children because I love a good name! ;) If I had another child (which I am NOT) , her name would be Sarah Sykes ( both are family names). I am trying to convience MD to use this name one day! ;) If I had a boy, it would be John Tuttle (my Daddy's name and my maiden name) or John Sykes. I LOVE it when someone uses a last name for a first name or the daddy's name with a girlie name! LOVE IT!!

Ok, so since you love naming kids...please come up with a girl name for me and tell me which boy way sounds better! We are having such a hard time with a girl name and I can't decide if Joseph Chase or Chase Joseph sounds better. We would call him Chase (Joseph was Jason's little brother who died in a car wreck). I love and have to use family names as at least the middle names! I loved the name Maggie Ruth (both our grandmothers names) but Jas at first turned his nose up. Now he says he might could get use to it. Here are some other family names for ya to work with Elizabeth, Virginia, Jackson, Butler, Bryant, Anne/Anna Any names will do and help! There is ya a weekend project! LOL!

Hi just stopping by from Kelly's Korner. We have a Jaxon too! We went with the creole spelling because our last name is creole! I love how you paired there names with family names! Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!

love this post! My brother's name is John Robert, named after my maternal great grandfathers, but we call him John John. I love the name Mary Dalton, it is so southern and classic! I want to name my daughter either, Mary John (after brother) or Shelby Clay (after my grandmother and my brother that passed away was named, Clay), or Mamie (after my great grandmother.)
