Gasping Gobbler 5k ~

Yesterday was our 5k ~ let me first say that "Gasping Gobbler" was a VERY appropiate name! I have NEVER ran hills like that before! Jefferson County is obviously very flat compare to Richmond County! We were gasping and pleading for air!
The YMCA had lots of "fun" people around! This is Kenny Bobby ~ Ricky Bobby's brother! ;) He was a lot a fun!

And of course, the YMCA man was there too ~ Clairissa and I were probably the only people over the age of .....hmmmmmm....4, that got their picture made with the YMCA man, but we did not care! I would also like for everyone to know that when we got there, people were already running. You know me, I thought we may be late, but then realized that they were "warming up" for the race. No, not bc it was cold...and it WAS freezing, but bc 3.1 miles is not far enough for them run! We did not "warm up" with them bc it took all I had to get my large butt across the finish line!
Kenny Bobby was waiting on us at the finish line for a "victory shot!" Those smiles, SMILES OR PURE RELIEF!!!!!

Of course we did not place, but if there was "weight division" I would have had a BLUE ribbon! Those chicks weigh as much as one of my boobs! NO JOKE! I don't think that they eat....EVER. I TOTALLY rocked "the BIG girl" category! Oh ~ and they were DIE HARD about running. The ones who did not weigh 65 lbs soaking wet, were VERY masculine ~ I am pretty sure that they had a penis somewhere in those bix, boxy shorts ~ Then you have me & Clair ~ just along for some fun~ fully decked out in our running skirts, full make up and jewelry! Our only goals were
1. Not to die.
2. To cross the finish line.
And we DID it! :)

And there we are ~ almost DONE! After every hill, we kept thinking, "There can't be anymore hills!" And guess what...we were WRONG! EVERY turn was a hill, really more like a mountain. But, if you look closely, we did beat some man! ;) I think we finished in 37 minutes, 7 mins slower than usual, but we were not used to hills or cold! Hey ~ we weren't last and we did not die = success! ;) We did get beat by the she-man pushing a stroller. Thankfully we did NOT get passed by the lady in the wheelchair! ;)

Our SWEET SWEET friends came to cheer us on! Hope (in brown) does not "do" mornings, so for her to be not only up but DRESSED and in Augusta at 8:45 ~ Oh yeah, she pretty much loves us! ;) Tammy was the official photographer and enjoyed our commentary! Thanks girls! Yall are the BEST!!!!!!

Clairissa's girls made a poster to cheer us on! As we rounded the last corner, she saw the hot pink sign and said, "There's my babies!" I replied, "Where is the finish line?"
It was a lot of fun and we are planning to do it again in a few weeks!
And yesterday ~ I was thankful for finish lines! :)
