Today was the Christmas parade in Louisville. The kids were SO upset that they missed the one in Wrens last week bc of choir practice,so I promised to take them today! They were supposed to ride on a float, but did not want to. They aren't really "scared" of sirens, but ever since we had our house fire, firetrucks kinda freak Mary Dalton out ~ and we all know that is she does not go, Jackson won't either! Anyway ~ We met Clairissa and dropped her girls off to ride the float and headed to find a spot!
We parked by a furniture store that happened to have picnic tables for sale all around ~ We got the bright idea to move one and OF COURSE had hot apple cider and some other treats to enjoy! We had kinda a random menu, but we are already making plans for next year ~ we are going ALL out! ;)
My friend, Tammy, came and met up with us to join in on the fun!

And then ~ the parade started! Mary Dalton & Jackson were so excited to get candy! We saw ALL sorts of things ~ We decided ANYONE can be in the parade ~ you just sign up! The 3 of us even thought about decorating a float and being in it next year ~ ya know...just because...but then we decided we would rather tailgate! As I was saying, we saw ALL sorts of things ~
BLUE and ORANGE hair ~
A want-to-be Santa in a jeep ~
(This is Bree, Jackson's buddy from school, and one of my students, Carlie ~ aren't they pretty?)
It looked like a grill on the back??? Don't know where he came from or why he felt the need to ride in the parade....Now HE would have been a good Santa!
Redneck trucks with kids in the back ~
I had some REALLY nice video footage too of the drumline dancing, but decided aganist posting it ~ as you never know who reads this blog and I don't want my house to be a target for a toilet papering! Let's just say ~ They can move in ways I did not know was humanly possible....seriously. I would also like to add that I am pretty sure that at least one of them conceived while out there dancing ~ IT WAS A SIGHT! AND ~ you would think that there would be a weight requirement to wear a leotard in a parade ~ nope! There's not! There were lots of rolls and cottage cheese....but hey....hat's off to those girls....I would never ever ever wear that and I weigh a GOOD 50 lbs less than them!
After our fun at the parade, I took the kids to Mike and Gigi's house so they could play while I went running. They love going over there and had a great time! We came home and made hamburger dip for supper and other appetizers to enjoy! We invited Suz over and ate while we watched Polar Express.
Rain is headed this way tomorrow ~ I just hope it holds off until we get in from church! I have enjoyed the children so much today ~ I love days that we don't have plans and we can just all be together! It makes my heart smile! :)
