4th of July Fun!

We headed out Sunday morning to go to the coast to see Dalton's Grandfather. His uncle brought him ALL EIGHTEEN HOURS to the coast for the 4th! We were so excited that we were going to get to see him and spend some time with him!

Granddaddy LOVES children and I enjoyed watching him watch our children and interact with them! It was such a special time!

As you can see from Jackson's face ~ they were PRETTY excited!!!

Sparklers, hotdog & marshmallow roast, cousins and a firework show get 5 and 6 year olds

FIRED UP!!!

Granddaddy has Alzheimer's and gets confused very easily. He is very, very feeble and uses a walker and a wheelchair to get around. He still has his sense of humor (just like Dalton!) and was cracking jokes all weekend! He wanted to go outside. Dalton helped him out. He wanted on the dock. They helped him down LOTS of stairs and onto the dock. He wanted on the FLOATING dock, and once again...they got him down there....

Then ~ he got in the boat!!!!!

This 30 minute boat ride was worth the weekend. Jackson wanted to sit by him while we rode. Granddaddy LOVES children and he smiled the ENTIRE ride and just talked to Jackson.

It was such a special time that I pray Jackson remembers when he is older.

Miss Priss loved the boat and playing with her cousin Olivia! She did NOT want to come home today! Jackson took lots of time jumping off of the boat into the river ~ Mary Dalton was not so brave...she swam, but no jumping for my girl! ;)

Funnies I want to remember ~

JDD said, "When I am 100 like Grandaddy, I am not gonna need a walker...I am gonna do squats everyday so I am in tip top shape!"

Mary Dalton was asking him what he wanted on his hotdog and he said, "I don't eat dogs." Mary Dalton got sooo tickled! She went and got a hotdog and showed him what it was...she was sooo sweet to him! I LOVED it! (And he was just picking at her...he does know what a hotdog is!)

A HUGE thank you to Dalton's Uncle Richard and his wife, Martha for making this journey with him! We all made great memories with Granddaddy!!! It was such a great weekend!

These are the sweetest pictures. So glad they have these fond memories. Can't wait for our lunch date this week- even if it is just the Dairy Queen.
