Last Stop- Memphis

We left Missouri around nine on Thursday and headed to our last stop… Memphis! I have not been to Memphis and I were 20 years and I have never stayed at the Peabody Hotel! This was hard on my bucket list for this trip! Dalton and I got our own room and the kids were once again down the hall. After three nights together in one room. We were so glad to have our own space and spread out!

The hotel was more beautiful than I could’ve imagined! This floral arrangement was probably my favorite thing! We got to Memphis around 330 and I immediately went down to the lobby and snagged a table right by the fountain so we could watch the famous duck march!

I love doing life with this man…

The dockmaster was also our Bellman! He said that everyone was pulling double duty since Covid. He was super sweet!
Mary Dalton got a picture with him right before the ceremony started.

We attempted to walk down Beale Street, but pretty much everything was closed. Memphis had a mask while in effect and it was HOT!!! We were also tired after traveling, the kids decided to order room service.
Dalton and I went to eat at the rendezvous. This was also on my bucket list… And I’m glad we went, but I would not recommend it! Dalton’s ribs are 100 times better! We still had a nice dinner alone and it was fun to see the famous restaurant!

We headed back to the hotel and met the kids in the lobby. Mary Dalton got some sweet potato ice cream which she swears was good but I could not bring myself to try!

Architecture and design of this hotel was beautiful! I could’ve sat there all day!
Right at sunset we headed up to the roof to get the views of the sun setting over the Mississippi. And I have said this and all of my post but we had the most beautiful views this entire trip!

There were also great photo ops on the roof!

The kids slept in Friday morning and then had lunch. Dalton and I woke up early and went to a different Bass Pro!
We ate at a locally and burger place and it was so good!

Picture is terrible quality… But I love it! Trying to get a 14-year-old boy to pose for pictures doesn’t often work so I will take what I can get! 😊

After lunch we drove over to Graceland. We were going to do the tour but it was going to be around $350. When our kids did not even know what Graceland was… We opted to do a drive-by! I toured it years ago and Dalton really wanted to go in, but that will give us a reason to go back! We were able to see the house from the road and hopefully the kids will remember that!

Why is it that the last leg of the trip is always the worst? I still had prizes for the return trip and in my infinite wisdom I thought interstate bingo would be fine. Let’s just say it did not go over so well. Dalton and I were cracking up at the two of them arguing over this stupid game! You would think they were playing for money or something!

Traffic was awful coming home and we did not make it home until 930 or 10 Friday night. We were all exhausted but we made so many memories and had such a good time! I cannot wait for my next road trip with them! 2020 has definitely been challenging but this was so needed for all of us and we enjoyed the trip so much!
