This year we did not go on a trip until the very last week of summer. We were torn about where to go because several places still have travel restrictions due to Covid. We let the kids choose between New Orleans, the beach, or Nashville. They decided on Nashville! We left Tuesday night around 8 PM to head that way.
We got there super late but were able to have a full day on Wednesday so it was worth it! We slept in and then headed out for brunch. We stayed at Dalton sisters loft which is right in the heart of downtown so we were able to walk most places!
We went to several honky-tonks and her great bands and musicians. Dalton Dowdy absolutely hates to dance. But when Mary Dalton asks, he immediately goes to the dance floor. This girl has his whole heart.
We joked with the kids all day and told them they looked like they were going to a gender reveal party!
I literally tried for weeks to get reservations at White limousine! I was so excited to be able to go! While we were there, a lady came up to us and said that she was a destination photographer and would love to take some pictures of Mary Dalton while she was in town. Mary Dalton was tickled pink to say the least!
We were exhausted after a long day! We went back to the loft and the boys ordered pizza and we headed to bed.
Thursday morning, we had a tour of Vanderbilt. We learned a lot about the college and Jackson definitely liked it but realized it’s not somewhere he probably wants to go. It’s actually a lot smaller than we realized… However, this campus was absolutely beautiful!
As soon as we got done we had barbecue for lunch and then headed to the mall to do some shopping. I cannot even describe how hot it was… I literally felt like we were cremating…
That night, we have reservations at a steakhouse. The food was delicious!
As soon as we got done, we headed to Broadway to meet the photographer. She took so many pictures and I can’t wait to see them all! Mary Dalton had the best time!
It was hot hot hot again on Friday so we did more shopping…
We went back to Broadway and had dinner at the Florida Georgia Line restaurant and enjoyed listening to some music. I swear not one person in Nashville sounds bad! Everyone we heard sing was amazing!
We had an early dinner so we wanted a milkshake. I saw that the legendary milkshake bar was right around the corner and got the bright idea to go. The line was long and there was a sign that said 30 minute wait. It was more like 90 minutes. The service was awful and the milkshake was not even good because everyone was so aggravated. It made for lots of jokes and memories though!
We loaded up on Saturday morning to head back to Georgia…
We made a pitstop for Dalton…
And a pitstop in Atlanta for Mary Dalton…
The traffic was absolutely terrible! I never want to drive through Chattanooga again. The last two times I’ve been through Chattanooga in the last three years the traffic has been 10 times worse than Atlanta… And that’s terrible! We got home much later than expected, but we had such a good trip and I’m so thankful that we had this time together as a family before we start a new school year.
