NYC Part 3

Day three with Saturday and we woke up to a rainy start. That did not slow us down… We put on our raincoats and headed to Central Park.

On my bucket list for this trip was to eat at Tavern on the Green. I have never been able to do this for different reasons one I am in New York City so I was looking forward to this!

Of course the decorations were spectacular!

They had a Christmas brunch that they are offering on the weekends. I have to say the food was just OK, but the two bar drinks I had were phenomenal. It was definitely an experience but some thing I would not want to do again.

When I made the reservation I told them we were coming for Jackson‘s 16th birthday so they surprised him with a candle. He was mortified of course!

When we travel, I love to buy art to remember our trip. We saw this guy in Central Park and Jackson bought two prints from him. One of the Bull  and one of Wall Street. I told him he can hang them in his office one day.

We also ran into this guy who paints on New York City bike maps. Jackson found one of the Statue of Liberty that he really wanted. We got that too and are going to put that in his bathroom.

After roaming the streets for a while, we went to rest and then went to see the play The Jersey  Boys.

That was an experience! Someone acted the fall and they cut the lights on in the middle of the play and kicked out for people for making rude comments. Jackson love the play and we can’t wait to go back and see another one!

By this point we were starving and Joe’s Pizza is hands-down the best pizza in New York City. We ate at twice while we were there and ordered it on our last night to enjoy!

We had a super early flight out on Sunday morning so we were in our room by 11 PM. I don’t think we actually went to sleep till about 130 and we had to get up at four to catch our flight. It was a long day but I would not give anything for the time we had together. The older I get the more I realize that time is the best gift that you can be given. Uninterrupted one on one time.

I’m also thankful that we went when we did. Covid has really started spreading there and most of the plays and Rockettes performances are canceled for this weekend. I feel so bad for the people who were going and now their plans are ruined!

I would highly suggest taking a birthday trip with your child instead of gifts or a party. I can’t wait to see where Mary Dalton wants to go for her 18th! This is definitely a tradition I started late but some thing that I can continue to do with my kids!
