We have waited and waited for this day...we are ALL out of school/daycare for summer! AND ~ WE ARE DRIVING EACH OTHER CRAZY!!! It will take us a few days to get into a routine around here, but today has NOT been a good day! The kids did not their lunch, so at 12:45 requested a snack...which did NOT make Mommy happy....at all. 1:00 was "rest time" they do not have to sleep, but watch a video and rest. That lasted 30 minutes. Then it was snack request again again again! I gave in at 2:10 and fixed them 3 cheese cubes, 2 pieces of turkey, berries, and a few marshmallows. I explained V-E-R-Y firmly that I am not a waitress and they would only eat at meal times and 2 snacks per day. I have even thought about giving them tokens to cash in for snacks, you know, like 2 a day and whenever they want to eat them they can??? This may sound crazy to some of yall, but I swear that they would eat ALL DAY LONG if I let them!
Our other summer rule is 1 hour of TV (other than from 5-6 when they watch Arthur and I cook), so actually they will get 2 hours. They rest of the day, the TV if off. The older I get, I cannot stand TV blaring. Jackson is fine with this rule, but priss is adjusting. We also made chore charts, JD has 3 chores because he is 3 and MD has 4 chores because she is 4. I let them pick the chores that they could do to help me around the house.
JD picked these 3:
1. Catch frogs
2. Ride my bike
3.Shoot my gun
I had to revise his list, it is now: 1. pick up my toys 2.help clean toy room 3. put dirty clothes in hamper/bring them downstairs
Our pool saga continues...if you want a pool ~ CALL ME! I WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND! It is a never ending money pit that sits in our backyard. I am really giving it until Saturday and if the problem is not resolved, I am done. We can fill it with dirt. We have a mustard algae and once you treat it, you have to manually (KEYWORD HERE ~ MANUALLY) vacuum the dead mess up off the bottom of the pool. Catch is, you can only do it in 15 min spurts because you have the pump on waste and the yard will flood. It is hot, gross, and I HATE it! I keep reminding myself how much the children enjoy swimming, but I am beginning not to care...our neighbors have a pool...we can use theirs...Everytime I look in the backyard, I want to cry...it is awful. I guess I better run!
The natives are starting a war upstairs...i hear screams/cries/and feet running above my head...I think I may go join them...may make us all feel better
