This is such a weird time in our lives right now. This picture was taken last Monday, who would’ve not thought we would be out of school indefinitely. Mary Dalton‘s English class was paired with first grade and they wrote stories. She actually had two partners but Ava Grace wasn’t there Monday. She fell in love with sweet little Levi while working with him
We got the call on Monday night that school was canceled. Tuesday was St. Patrick’s Day and the teachers had to report to start working on our distant learning plans. Coach Hennessy showed up dressed like this. He grew up Catholic Irish in Savannah said he loves St. Patrick’s Day more than anyone! We were cracking up… Especially that he had on the crocs with his suit. I’ll miss my coworker so much over the next several weeks. We have such a good time together!
I worked pretty much all day on Tuesday and then Wednesday I tried to get things straight at our house. I made our formal dining room into a makeshift office where I can grade and teach from. We actually start our distant learning tomorrow. There are so many unknowns… I pray we figure it out and have a good week!
Anyone who knows us knows that we love to eat out. We have not had a meal out in over a week. I now know why people spend $200 a week on groceries. If you’re eating at home you have to have food! Ha ha!
It’s very hard to find any meat in our county, but Dalton was able to get a couple whole chickens and he smoked them last week. They were delicious! We had enough left that I was able to make chicken salad. It’s so strange how everything we eat or do now I think about the consequences of it. For example I made pancakes but made exactly 6...2for MD, two for Jackson into for Whitney. we are practicing social distancing and sticking to it pretty firmly with our kids. However, we don’t social distance from Whitney. She’s like one of us. She even has her own room at our house. Those two girls would probably have a nervous break down if they truly got to be apart for weeks on end .
on Thursday we had to be at the school so the kids could pick up their work for the next two weeks. My sweet seniors game to find out their class ranking and get their things. We took one last picture together. I pray this is not the last time that we are all together the school year. I felt so sorry for them as they left. Of course I am stressed about the whole coronavirus… Praying none of us get it, praying for our economy, worrying about my job, worrying about Dalton‘s job, etc. it’s just so much. But these kids have looked forward to things their entire lives and overnight they lost those experiences. They were so sad.
It broke my heart.
Social distancing could not have come at a better time for Dalton. Turkey season came in Saturday and he is happy as a lark! He reloaded his bullets and was ready to go!
Friday and Saturday were beautiful and hot!!! We enjoyed laying out and starting on our tans. If nothing else good has come out of this, at least the pool is open and we can use it! Whitney so came over for a while on Friday.
I took Mary Dalton to do some modeling for one of our local boutiques. I think she was excited to have a reason to get dressed and to get out of the house for a little while!
This morning I watched one of our local preachers on Facebook live. He did a great job and preached about how to be a good citizen during this time. When he first said the title of the sermon I wasn’t that and treat, but he brought a great encouraging message on things we can do as Christians to get through this time and deliver a life with joy and not fear. It was exactly what I needed to hear today!
My plan is to blog each week about what we did to survive. Distant learning starts tomorrow so it should be an interesting week!!!
Stay well friends!!!
