Quick Getaway!

We had an unexpected getaway last week to Savannah! Dalton failed to tell me that he had a conference but luckily I was able to get a substitute and join him in Savannah! We have been so busy so we were excited to have some time together. We left Wednesday afternoon around 530 and made our way to my favorite city!

We ate at a new restaurant called Garibaldi’s and it was one of my top five all-time meals. I can’t believe we have never been there before! For dessert, I had a praline basket that had cinnamon ice cream and fruit.. it was absolutely wonderful

We walked around the Plant District and saw all of the new buildings. It was beautiful!

A friend of ours told us about this African bar and Dalton and I both fell in love with it. We had a few drinks and charcuterie here one night.

I love doing life with this man!

Marc Richt was the speaker on Friday morning and I went with Dalton to hear you. He did an awesome job! He shared about his testimony and his diagnosis with Parkinson’s. Dalton had classes to attend so Clarissa came and joined me for the day. We took full advantage of the beautiful weather and the pool. Our girls were working at the baseball game and FaceTimed us.

our friend Jeri happened to be in town with her husband and they came and picked us up on their boat. We were able to go out for about two hours with them. We had the best time and laughed the entire trip! We have not been together since Christmas so this was a treat!

Clairissa went to dinner that night…

After dinner, we had been told about a speakeasy that you could only get into if you had a password. We could not find the password but we had full confidence that we could weasel our way in.

So there is a switch that you flip and this man comes to the door and just stares at you until you say the password. We just started talking to him and begging him to let us in… He totally fell for it and even agreed for a picture!

You can’t take pictures inside but it was very 1920s and a burlesque show. There was a couple sitting beside us and they said that watching mine and Clairissa‘s face was better than the show. Neither of us had ever seen anything like that and had no idea what we were getting into. We could literally not stop laughing! We will know next time that burlesque is a nice word for strip club.

We got back home on Saturday and I came home to a sick Mary Dalton. I am praying she does not have the flu! Both my kids have AP exams this week, field day, honors day, and Mary Dalton is in the beauty pageant on Friday. I am praying that her medicine will kick in and she will feel better. They have this week and next week left of school, 10 days. Surely we can make it!
